An oft-repeated urban legend holds that the library sinks over an inch every year because when it was built, engineers failed to take into account the weight of all the books that would occupy the building. A webpage hosted on the indiana.edu domain debunks this myth, stating, among other things, that the building rests on a 94 ft (28.6 m) thick limestone bedrock- wikipedia.com
