2802 Sycamore. The site of such epic parties as 2005's Anti-Valentine's Day and home of four of the greatest guys to grace Davis with their presence. We live a simple life here, going to class, hanging out, and playing video games. We kept to ourselves, and we figured we would be extended the same courtesy.
We were wrong.
A few months ago, an invasion began. An invasion that at first went undetected by the paying residents of 2802, but slowly spun out of control.
The enemy: MICE!
At first there was one mouse. We named him Mortemer (Morty for short, but he didn't like that too much). Sometimes we would hear him scratching around in the walls or scampering across the ground in the laundry room. The residents of 2802 payed no attention to this, and a few even befriended the little guy. Every great house needs a great mascot! And what's better than a house mouse?
As time went on, the invasion occurring became more apparent. Labels off of canned food in the kitchen were chewed off...an obvious sign from the mice that they intended to stay. Mice were then heard scurrying around in the walls. An occasional mouse would be seen running along the wall in the garage.
And then came the smell...
In an apparent attempt to drive us from the territory, the mice left small stink bombs made of their own feces...EVERYWHERE! In the kitchen, in the closet, in the garage...
The final straw came one evening when two residents of the house were in the kitchen for dinner and saw three mice at once scurry across the ground and under the stove. At that moment, 2802 decided it was time to fight back.
With a generous donation from the great one referred to only as BQ, 2802 had the ammo it needed to start its own offensive. 6 mouse traps were placed at various locations around the house; 4 wooden ones and 2 reusable plastic ones. Within an hour of the traps being placed, we had caught our first intruder.
What followed will be referred to for years in mouse circles as The Massacre. 2802 caught record numbers of the opposition, sparing no lives. After the first night of the offensive, 8 had been caught. After night 2, 14. Even we were astonished at the numbers that were being accumulated. The wooden traps, when tripped, could not be reused as it was hard to separate the mouse from the trap. However, the plastic traps became our best weapons. Mouse after mouse was being caught and executed. 2802 was fighting back!
It has now been two weeks since the offensive started. 28 mice have been caught and executed for trespassing. Unfortunately, all our traps have been exhausted. There are still more invaders to remove, and once ammunition is found, the war shall continue...

Dear Son,
This was extremely entertaining, although somewhat frightening and gross from a mother's point of view. A small suggestion. Find the whole where they are getting in and plug is with steel wool from the hardware store. The war will be over, because the enemy will be stopped at the gate. Also, remember bleach is your friend. I suspect 2802 needs a little disinfecting to avoid germ warfare.
Love,
Mom
update: we got more traps, and 2 more mice have been slain. The war has continued!
Pat, you should seriously consider being at least a part time writer. You really have a talent for it.
