The Republican Debate tonight pissed me off. It was all just a bunch of childish bickering. Except for Ron Paul and Newt Gingrich, the candidates sounded like a bunch of clowns, bickering about such inane things. A bunch of he-said, he-said. It was ridiculous. How is anyone in the country supposed to take any of these guys seriously if all they do is snipe at one another???
My favorite comment of the night came, no surprise, from Ron Paul, talking about cutting military spending as part of trying to balance the budget and cut our national debt down:
“We want to spend more and more, and you can’t cut a penny? I mean, this is why we’re at an impasse. I want to hear somebody up here willing to cut something. Something real.” ~Ron Paul
It's really too bad that neither Ron nor Newt are going to be the Republican nominee. Both are some of the smartest men in this country, and really understand what they are talking about. And neither is given a chance because they don't speak in sound bytes. Sometimes I really hate what the media has done to our political process...

Nail, meet hammer. It hasn't been the same since the Kennedy / Nixon debate = all the media thinks we want are soundbytes and a polished image. Political debates have become an extended version of the phrase "It is what it is" = they offer absolutely no insight into a politician's mindset, unless you count the absence of critical thinking a "mindset."
