So back over MLK weekend, Bubba and I trekked down to SoCal to be kind of insane. We had the brilliant idea to do TWO spartan races in one weekend. Yeah, maybe not so smart...but super fun!
Saturday was the Beast: 12.5 miles...6.5 of which were uphill between 20% and 50% grade. 36 obstacles. Insanity. It took us just a shade under 5 hours to finish...although we would have been done faster, but Bubba got a pretty bad cramp in his calf about half way into it. SO, since we werent competing for any awards anyways, we just went ahead and took our time to make sure we could finish.
Sunday was the Sprint: 4.5 miles...only 2 of which were uphill. 24 obstacles...and a ton more people. It was kind of insane. A bunch of bros who come out and think they're badass because they're doing a SPARTAN RACE! Of course, none of them were here the day before doing the Beast...but they'll still snicker at you as they jog by you on the trail. Ridiculous. This time our buddy Jason joined us for the race...his first ever spartan race! We'll see if he ever wants to do another one, lol.
Sunday we got a few pictures on the course. Only pictures from the Sprint because that's when we had spectators there with us (Jason''s wife and kids).
All in all, a fun freaking weekend! I was pretty damn sooooooooooore afterwards. But its a fun challenge. In November, I will be completing my 2015 trifecta with the Sacramento Super.
So that was a good adventure! More adventures to come, so stay tuned!
