MMR: The Legends of Amato's

This past weekend will go down in infamy as teh weekend Chaz and Q became legends at Amato's Cheesesteaks in San Jose.

It's a little past noon, and Chaz and I are in San Jose with Bravo. Of course, since it's lunchtime in San Jose, my mind clearly wanders towards Amato's, the best cheesesteaks in the Bay Area. We head over there, and get there just after the lunch rush, rather fortuitous. As we were in line to order, a tiny little man (5'6", 140 lbs, tops) was ordering a Half cheesesteak (reference: their ordering system is thus: shorty is 7", half is 12", whole is 24"...and they're BIG sandwich). This man orders a half, and the cashier asks "are you sure you want a half?" To which Chaz replies "looks like their eyes are bigger than their stomachs." Which gets a laugh. He continues with his half order, and the cashier (who is also the primary owner) says "well, when you dont finish it, come up and we'll wrap up the rest for you." When we get up to order, Chaz quips, "hopeful amateurs" and that is that.

We get our food, eatit outside, bring our baskets back inside, and go back to the cashier. We ask if they have any T-shirts lying around. The owner says, "well, we have this one," holding up a small, women's tank top. "If you put it on and take a picture, I'll give it to you." Chaz, of course, never one to back down, laughs and says "ok, give it here. But you have to be in the picture with me!" She runs around from behind the counter with her camera as Chaz puts the shirt on. As she starts to take the picture, we exclaim "nonono, you have to be in the picture with Chaz!" And I grab the camera. 1-2-3, smile! Click! It is done. The owner of Amato's in a picture with Chaz in a women's tank top. Brilliant. We are told that the picture and the t-shirt would end up on the wall, which is awesome.

She then sent one of her kids to their house to grab two XL black Amato's t-shirts to take with us, no charge.

When we go back in two weeks, we will be making sure the picture is up on the wall, and I guarantee you, we will not be forgotten!
